Our Own Devices is the debut CD from See Through Trio, and features twelve original compositions. Drawing on early free jazz influences such as Carla Bley, Ornette Coleman, and the Jimmy Giuffre 3, the trio’s music focuses on the improvised interactions between the players. The compositions encompass a wide range of styles, from country to circus waltzes to pointillistic avant-garde textures, all in the service of generating contrasting frameworks for improvisation.
